The plastic used for the oil filter housing in some petrol and diesel engines can crack over time. This can cause oil leaks onto the engine and road. Leaked oil can ignite upon contact with hot engine parts, increasing the risk of a fire. Moreover, it can also create slippery sections, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries especially for two-wheeled vehicles. The Engine Management System (EMS) does not provide the speed restriction when the vehicle road speed exceeds 135mph (217kph) with the Deployable Rear Spoiler in the down position. Vehicle stability will be compromised and the degree of directional control minimised. This significantly increases the risk of an accident at very high road speeds.

Following a software problem with the powertrain control module (PCM), it is possible that the internal combustion engine will not start at the right time when the vehicle is in motion and operating in electric vehicle (EV) mode only. When the EV system is no longer capable of propelling the vehicle, the vehicle slows down unexpectedly and it is impossible to drive it, thus increasing the risk of an accident. The static noise level exceeds the regulated maximum decibel limit. Excessive noise levels may cause damage to hearing.

The coolant pump can become damaged, resulting in a loss of coolant flow. This causes the engine to overheat quickly and coolant can leak onto the turbocharger heat shield, creating a risk of fire.
