Car Recall Check

Due to an inappropriate programming of the electrical control unit (ECU), even if the battery is deteriorated or used up, the ECU may stop the engine while circulating. Consequently the car cannot be re-started, increasing the risk of accident with the incoming traffic.

The flange area of the engine's multi-belt auto tensioner may crack under high-load driving conditions, which may cause the drive-belt to fall off. If this occurs, the engine warning light will illuminate, there will be a loss of power steering assistance, the battery will discharge and the engine may overheat and stall.

The software of the forward-collision mitigation (FCM) system of the engine control unit (ECU) may be faulty. As a consequence, the FCM-ECU software may activate the brake for longer than necessary and the driver may react by applying additional braking. The resulting rapid deceleration of the vehicle can increase the risk of rear-end collision.

The software in the Active Stability Control (ASC) system may be faulty. As a consequence, the adaptive cruise control (ACC), forward - collision mitigation (FCM) and anti-lock braking system (ABS) may not work properly which may lead to accidents.

The weld between the rear muffler and the tailpipe may crack. As a result, the tailpipe may detach and drop on the road, posing a risk to following traffic.

The front deck is not waterproof and water can drop onto the wiper link. As a consequence, the wiper link ball joint may corrode and cause excessive wear of the resin part of the ball joint. The wiper link may detach itself and the windshield wipers may become inoperative.

The parking brake lever shaft might be stuck due to corrosion or/and the auto-adjuster of the rear brake piston assembly might be inoperative. The parking brake might work with lower efficiency or might be inoperative.

The engine electronic control unit relay may heat up abnormally. This could lead to the engine stalling while driving and not being able to restart the engine.

The door lock mechanism might not operate properly in high temperatures. As a result, the door may not be locked properly and could open while the vehicle is moving.

The inside of the front wiper motor may corrode due to water ingress. This could lead to the wiper motor stopping to work. If the wiper motor stops working whilst driving, an accident could result.

Due to the inappropriate material of the auxiliary drive belt, the drive belt pulley may wear obliquely. As a consequence, the auxiliary drive belt could become damaged and come off the pulley. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the battery would become depleted and the engine could overheat. In vehicles with an oil pressure power-steering system, the steering effort could increase as a result of no power assistance.

Unwanted soot / carbon deposits on the piston rings might cause the piston rings to get stuck in the piston groove. As a result, this can cause increased blow-by gas to directly enter the crank case which in turn may cause the piston to overheat and melt. As a consequence, the engine may stall.
