Incorrectly parameterised airbag control units may have been fitted. For these airbag control units, the diagnosis function of the side crash sensors is deactivated. Should a fault occur in the side airbag system, the fault would not be recognised and the airbag warning light would not be activated. Failure to detect such a fault could lead to an increased risk of injuries for passengers in the event of an accident.
