The front deck is not waterproof and water can drop onto the wiper link. As a consequence, the wiper link ball joint may corrode and cause excessive wear of the resin part of the ball joint. The wiper link may detach itself and the windshield wipers may become inoperative.

This could lead to increased contact resistance between the conductor rails and, as a consequence, cause a fire or failure in the engine functioning, seat belt functions and the dashboard, leading to an increased risk of accident and injury.
